As the festive season fades, a conflict specialist warns that unaddressed workplace grievances will rise back up unless leaders take action soon.
There are different “seasons” when it comes to workplace conflict, The Zalt Group Director Zandy Fell has observed.
For example, she tells Hr Daily, early spring can be particularly intense from a relational perspective if employees haven’t taken annual leave or had a break for a while.
Then heading into the festive season, there’s often more pressure to meet deadlines before the year ends, but employees tend to be “more jolly” as the summer break approaches.
Employees then usually get a break, or at least enjoy a slower pace of work, due to multiple public holidays in December and January, Fell explains. Often, January is kind of a “honeymoon period”, she notes…
